Members of this Association shall be (a) Fellows, Members, Associates or (b) other persons who have received a Master’s degree in psychology or have completed at least two years of graduate study in psychology at an accredited college or university and who are continuing their graduate study in psychology or who are employed full time as psychologists, who apply for membership in writing to the Administrative Officer and who pay their annual dues and assessments for the current year. Applicants under (b) above must submit proof of their current status. $60.00
Individuals who are not psychologists but are interested in scholarly aspects of psychology may become Affiliate Members by having their applications addressed to the Administrative Officer bear the endorsement of three SEPA members and enclosing dues for the current year. Affiliate Members may participate in meetings and serve on ad hoc committees, but they may not vote, hold office, endorse member applications, or sponsor program submissions. $60.00
Graduate students in psychology (who are not members of organizations identified in Section 1) who have completed less than two years of graduate study in psychology and undergraduate students in psychology and related fields may become Student Affiliate Members by having their applications addressed to the Administrative Officer include proof of their current status and enclosing dues for the current year. Student Affiliate Members may participate in meetings and serve on ad hoc committees, but they may not vote or hold office.
$50.00 for graduate students with two or more years of school.
$40.00 for graduate students with two or less years of school and all undergraduates.
Life membership is open to any member of SEPA who (a) is at least 65 years of age, (b) has been a full member of SEPA for at least ten years, and (c) requests Life Membership. $35.00
According to the SEPA Constitution, annual dues are to be effective with the beginning of the fiscal year on September 1st.
Dues for each fiscal year are then payable upon receipt of notice from the SEPA Office and become delinquent thirty days before the next annual meeting. Checks will be accepted for registration until March 10, 2023. Names and email addresses must accompany all checks or they will be mailed back to the sender. Payment may also be made via Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express by using our online payment system. Final deadline for credit card payment is February 24, 2023.
SEPA policy is not to refund membership dues. In addition to receiving a discount on all conference registration fees, there is inherent value in belonging to a professional association (e.g., it is line they may include on their resume/CV). Additionally, we view the remitting of membership dues as the individual’s willingness to contribute to the organization’s stated mission to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, as a means of promoting human welfare, and to generally stimulate the exchange of scientific and professional ideas across the diverse areas of psychological inquiry and application.
For Annual Meeting registration refunds, only a portion of the fees will be refunded. This helps offset costs we acquire while planning. The refund policy is as follows: 60+ days out will forfeit 75%. 15 – 59 days will forfeit 90%. 14 days or less will forfeit 100%.
